Plex Photos is currently not good for much besides giving your family a slideshow.
It could potentially be useful as the family photo management hub… IF it had one key feature.
We need the ability - in any client software - to select multiple photos and then download/transfer them to the client device.
If we’re going to store all our photos on the Plex server, we need to be able to get at and use those photos to do things like send to someone, create a photo book, get prints, or just use them locally on our devices. To do that, we need to easily transfer the photos from the server to our device.
While one at a time is better than nothing, we should be able to select multiple photos and then initiate the transfer. We also need to be able to get the original quality photo from the server if desired.
As mentioned, without this capability, the functionality of Plex’s photo implementation is seriously limited. It is only good for giving a slideshow, but not actually using it as a photo library.
Multitple requests for the same feature exist already, and they have more votes. Please pick one or several of them and add your vote to them instead.
Therefore this one is closed, to prevent spreading the votes across several threads, even though they vote for the same (or at least very similar thing).
