I would like to have the ability to hide the Main User from Clients in Plex Home. In our family we have a children’s library and a library for us parents. As we want the children’s stuff also be hidden from us, we created a user for us, where the children’s stuff is not visible.
The Main User is only used for managing the libraries itself. I would like to have the option to hide it from clients. I guess the clients are requesting the list of users anyway while starting, so if the option is set, this user should not be part of the users list when delivered to the clients.
In web client, when the Users list is presented, and that hide option is checked, the Main user could just be displayed as a Button somewhere below the Users list with a title like “Manage server”. Hitting that button would then open the same dialogue as if I would choose the Main User picture now to enter the pin.
So from that:
to something like that:
On Clients itself it should also not be a problem to hide the Main user as management tasks are anyway not done from a client (except the Web App Client).
Hope others would like to have that implemented too
I liked this as well. But I want to stress that this should be a setting PER DEVICE set from the main Web App.
What I mean is, you know what devices you want to have your user ID used on, and on those devices it should still be available. If you go to the devices that are listed on your server, there should be an option to turn this on/off for each individual device. You can even set up a default user ID per device, and still have the option to change users in the user interface on the app itself.
Along with this a forced bit rate, schedule, etc. could all be added, giving more control of what, when, how and who uses that specific device.
This is an example of the tools that could be developed. And we so sorely need to make the over-all experience for all of our users more enjoyable.
If they can’t listen to an experienced person like Carlo , they will not listen to anyone and like any other company it makes sense that their users will decline rapidly.
Anyway , reviving this thread.
