if it had face recognition, I’d pay for the pass
this is should be easy to implement, imagga has the API https://imagga.com/solutions/face-recognition-and-detection
I also would be very interested in that feature. Please implement that if possible…
That’d be quite expensive, and unnecessary to use a third party service… It would be ideal to do it on device, like Apple Photos, for instance. This is the single feature I’m after, and the one that would make me buy a lifetime pass.
Keep hope aliiiive, +1 for the facial recognition.
I second this request. With so many APIs out there like Imagga, certainly there are open source partners out there PLEX could integrate with. PLEX is my defacto video organization tool; why not take Photos to the next level?? Big decision factor for some of us for an org tool.
This request runs since 2017. I’m definitely backing it up, im looking for improvements in the photo section for a very long time. But I gave up the hope already, we will keep getting a row of useless features before the very basics are properly polished. I’ll only retake my plex pass again If they ever improve the photo features.
would love to have this feature! any updates please?
Same - The lack of facial recognition is the only thing that keeps me from using a Plex Photo library.
Meh… Picasa was created more than 10 years ago… and it had good facial recognition functionality already back then. This request has been going on for years… and yet the best it can do is some auto tagging of things that aren’t even really that important. Most plex users that collects all these photos… are collecting them mainly because of the “people”… not because they wanna keep track of a “child” or a “house” while having “dinner” and eating “chicken”. Plex users out there will be searching for the names of people they would like to find in their collection. argh.
Hello, I rarely read forums and may have posted twice in my life but PLEX needs to respond to their customer base on implementing facial recognition technology. Simply tell the community if and when you are going to work on it. Give us a release date or tell your followers that you aren’t interested. I lost my brother to cancer and I am working through a large library to find all the pictures we have of him. Adding this existing and somewhat older tech to your platform will have a positive effect peoples lives. (that will make you money)
Question: why there is no plugin for that?
I’d also love this feature. Please let the community know what it would take to make it happen.
+1 Would be a really useful feature to have, or at least some way to manage it externally and have plex pick it up as tags on the photos
I would also be happy to pay for premium with face recognition and being able to find photos and albums with say “peter” & “Steve” in the same pictures.
Hopeless to find a good solution, unless one gets all Apple or all Google eco system gadgets and cloud systems.
Would be very nice to add this as a functionality to Plex, making it a real photo platform as well.
I think what is crucial in my view is that the facial/object recognition in photos should be done locally with something like TensorFlow.
And yes, I too would be willing to pay for a feature like that. I think this is more urgent than the “free movies” feature in my opinion.
Hopefully they add this. Having Plex managing the entire media library would be awesome. Also - Plex is already pretty well placed for that, if only they would do this…
+1 for this feature this would be fantastic to have
There’s an active actual feature request, if you want to vote for it.
However, Elan has recently said:
+1 for this feature. It sounds super useful
+1 for this feature, although I can’t see what good this comment will do. It’s clear that everyone has wanted this feature for like 4 years now.
