[Feature Request] Add sorting options for playlists in Plexamp

I would really like to see proper playlist sorting options added to Plexamp.

Currently, playlists seem to only be available in their default defined order (Date added ascending). It would be very useful to be able to sort them by criteria such as:

  • Date added — ascending / descending
  • Artist
  • Album
  • Track title
  • Possibly release date, duration, etc.

For me, sorting by date added descending is by far the most important one.

For example, I have a “Running” playlist to which I regularly add new music. When I go running, I usually want to start with the tracks I added most recently, since those are generally the songs I’m most interested in listening to at that moment.

Currently, to do this in Plexamp, I have to scroll aaaall the way down to the bottom of the playlist and manually start playback somewhere near the end. But that doesn’t really solve the problem either: if I start with, say, the 5th track from the bottom, Plexamp will play those 5 recent tracks and then loop back to the beginning of the playlist - i.e. the oldest tracks -instead of continuing through the playlist from newest to oldest.

What I would like is simply to be able to select:

Sort by → Date Added → Newest First

Then I could start playing the playlist normally and Plexamp would go through my recently added tracks first, followed progressively by the older ones.

Spotify handles this very well, and I think this would be a simple but extremely useful addition to Plexamp, especially for playlists that are regularly updated.
