It seems awkward that everything is always listed alphabetically. When searching/filtering for a given series of related movies, I’d argue that the viewer would always want those entries to be sorted by year of release - not just alphabetically.
For example, “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” sorts before “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers”. Very awkward.
Instead, it seems the section list dropdown should gains a new section of options: In addition to choosing the specific view option (Posters, Details, List), the user would also be given the option to sort by:
Name
Release date
Genre
Time
…etc.
Is this an existing feature request? Would it have to be implemented separately for each client app?
Great insights; thanks to both of you. I like the idea of modifying the sort title (vs. actual title) to ensure consistency; thanks, OttoKerner !
But, I’m confused by the indication of sort order on the left: That is clear as day to me right now - just as you indicated, beckfield. But, I can confirm I did not see it previously - else, I wouldn’t have posted the concern in the first place. Perhaps there are situations where this set of options appears, and some where it does not?
Are such entries only available to filtered views, but not when viewing an entire library at a time?
No matter: These options address my need quite well. Just curious why they weren’t visible to me previously; it is entirely possible that this is simply a PEBKAC error Thanks, all.

they are only available when your library is in ‘All’ view mode.
Since the other view modes are just some sort of predefined filters themselves.
And you must open the filter menu of course… (the ‘hamburger’ icon)
