If you would like the Plexamp app to have an Android widget providing playback controls don’t forget to press the VOTE button above
An Android widget, with playback controls and a thumbnail image of the currently playing item, would be handy.
I am aware that playback controls already appear in the notifications area but a widget would be better, to place alongside my existing homepage widgets for Spotify, Smart Audiobook, and Pocket Casts (podcast player).
People would also use Plexamp more frequently if they had that visual reminder of the last track they were listening to.

Maybe we could get your idea and mine merge so we have more votes?
I thought your feature request for the main Plex Android app was good and gave it a vote.
I don’t think we should merge our requests because, although my request is also about the need for an Android widget, I am asking for it to be added to Plexamp.
Both apps should have it, absolutely, but they are built by different teams within Plex. As each of our requests targets a specific app and, therefore, a specific team, we actually have more chance if each team sees a request specifically addressed to them, not Plex in general.
Hopefully, we’ll get lucky and one or perhaps even both of these apps will get this much-needed feature.
I’m bumping, as well. Widget is primary reason I can be a faithful user of the Plex or Plexamp apps on Android. I like them both, but neither offers a widget, so I’m going to keep bumping this, AND I’m going to continue bumping the request for the Plex app, as well, until someone over at Plex decides this is a desirable feature!
I just purchased a Plex Pass lifetime membership and I’m setting up a Plex media server to replace Google Play Music (just not a fan of YouTube Music at all). I do like the Plexamp app a lot but this android widget would be a really helpful new feature!
I would like to bump this as well. I know it’s not as important as a lot of other suggestions. But it’s the only music app I use without a widget. It would be nice to have. I also don’t know how difficult it is to create a widget for Plexamp as I am not a programmer.
definitely needs a widget so can control from mobile screen without having to go fully into the app, many other music apps have this, so only right this has it
I’m also trying to evaluate music services as an ex Google Play Music subscriber who’s not a fan of YT Music. Have been wanting to get all my media set up on Plex for years and could totally see this being the final push I need to do so, but am SO sad the Plex apps don’t have music widgets. The music widget from Google Play Music was always one of the things I listed as one of my favorite things about having an Android phone, never dreamed there would be a music service without that. I really hope Plex implements it as I love the idea of using them for all my media!
A widget is sorely needed! I’m switching over to PlexAmp for the same reasons many others are, but the lack of a widget is surprising and disappointing.
Plex pass user for YEEEAAARS over here. I rarely post, but recently reintroduced my MASSIVE library of lossless which I spent SOOO much time slow-adding so the library is PERFECT!
Just re-installed Plexamp on my phone a couple weeks ago. PLEASE, for the love of God, make a freaking awesome hugemongous widget. Like, the size of the old Google Play Music widget, but gorgeous in the way Plex does its UX and interfacing.
I know you all can do it. I’d even pay for an odd-on.
