I would love to have this back as a feature of the Android Mobile App.
Being able to start the last music file (playlist/album/etc.) up again where left off without having to reopen the app. Many player have this (some known and some not).
The following are just the Music/Audiobook Players I have on my phone now.
Please make this happen. With Google Play Music closing down some of us are moving over to Plex instead, and not having a widget (not to mention a dedicated music app) is annoying.
How is this not a basic feature in a media player? Please prioritize making this available. I assume this is also why BT controls dont work as they do in GPM.
I just dumped Google Play Music since it’s transitioning to the spectacularly terrible YouTube Music app. I haven’t used Plex in a few years but I assumed it would at least be on par with every other music app out there… ummmm, no widget!!! —and I see this has been requested for a very very long time. Not super encouraging. Please make one!
Plex Devs: You guys did a BANG UP job of integrating into Android Auto, and we would (of course) love to have an Android widget. However, it’s obvious that current revisions in Android are not recognizing Plex as the default music player in the Android OS, which means the widget will probably be a moot point, if not pointless. If we could get Plex to be recognized by Android (I know that’s cutting into their streaming music services profit), it seems like a widget would be the logical next step, right?
I know there aren’t a ton of Plex users, but we are increasing, and I imagine the percentage of Plex Server users who would like to see playback stats on their mobile homepage is significant.
We are also transitioning away from Google Play and have not been happy with YouTube Music. Plex looks really promising. Would really love to see this Android widget feature!
