Gone must be the days of re-routing the Trailers.app on Apple TV to a local webserver!! We want the Plex App on the new Apple TV!!

There is no persistent local storage for apps on Apple TV. This means that every app developed for the new Apple TV must be able to store data in iCloud and retrieve it in a way that provides a great customer experience. Along with the lack of local storage, the maximum size of an Apple TV app is limited to 200MB. Anything beyond this size needs to be packaged and loaded using on-demand resources. Knowing how and when to load new assets while keeping your users engaged is critical to creating a successful app.
Sorry I really didn’t want this to be true either, I feel that it’s the wrong choice from apple to give the best user experience, but the good news here for me is there is basically no reason to get the 64 GB version.
I’m surprised the API doesn’t allow storage access… there are 32GB and 64GB models!
Also… does anyone know what the heck the USB Type-C connector will be for? I assume storage, but this is Apple, so that can’t be it… right?

The USB Type-C port will be use by developers to load their apps on apple tv’s to be able to test or for loading of profiles for enterprise level support or possible diagnostics. I believe that the lightning cable that comes in the box has a Type-A connector.

Please figure out a way for PHT skins to work with this. Otherwise I’ll have to stick with a Mini for each TV. I can’t stand using anything other than PlexAeon.
