I have a few family members who have access to my plex and sometimes I need to take it down (patch, reboot, whatever). It would be neato mosquito if I could send out some kind of notification to all Plex clients that the server was going down (or whatever). It could be a pop-up on their device or just a banner rolling over the content they are watching.
I was going to request this, but found it via search. This would be incredibly helpful.
There is already a request for this. Search and up vote the original request.

Entered this into another thread before I searched...
Custom Messaging
As a Plex Media Server user, I want the ability to configure custom caution and warning messages to the display of a specific, connected user, and all connected users (if I want). Messages should have a yellow and red priority label. Yellow being, just a message about a future shutdown, a note to my son telling him to do whatever before watching Plex, etc. Red being a big, fat message that "the server has gone down" or whatever I specify in the messages configuration.

Would really be helpful
Ditto. The ability to display a message when someone logs in would be a great feature.
Has this been added yet? Does anyone know if emby supports notices/user notification/banner messages?

would love this feature
4 years from the OP and I’m here wanting the same thing. Would be a great feature.
