So this had idea while reading through everything I could find on Direct Play support for the new Apple TV 4 Plex app…
Lets get a “Direct Play Supported” flag added to each episode/movie while looking at their descriptions across all clients… Then if you got your new Apple TV say, and wasn’t sure if your media will direct play or not, you could simply see if its go a flag present…
On the PMS side this could be expanded with a filter/sort, so we that want to only use Direct Play on our media can see what can and can’t Direct Play on certain clients… The Filter could perhaps go… Direct Play > list client apps…
Not sure had PMS could get this information… Whether it knows it already after media scanning, or perhaps its something that could get added in a Deep Scan, whether it interrogates all your files and their codecs used, and from their populates the metadata for Direct Play support, to then tell the clients…
