Title says it all really. When I enter the information page of a given movie I want an icon that tells me if the movie will be forcibly transcoded because the format is unsupported by Plex.
that is an interesting idea, however it would probably pretty complicated to implement.
whether something is transcoded is entirely dependent on the content, the client, and any bandwidth restrictions.
so the check would have to be performed/calculated dynamically, for each individual client, before a movie is played (or even not played at all).
Allright, so there is an interplay of factors determening it, and not only on the server side.
I see.
But still, if the format of the file is outside the boundaries defined here:
There is a 100% certainty that the file will be transcoded, right?
In those cases when there is a 100% chance it will be transcoded (when playing over a local lan) I want an icon to signify that and I would want an option to try an play the file via DLNA instead
[From within Plex TV App: Play via DLNA er]
Thanks for weighing in, I can see how what you explained complexify it a little
