I’d like to see a directv style guide that the plex administrator can populate. The “guide” can be setup so that the user can open the guide and select a comedy station, or scifi station etc… the “stations” can be setup to play a selected genre. Or the plex admin can setup live tv type scheduling where where shows are played on weekly schedules. Like if you turn it to the comedy station on Monday at 9pm the same show will always be playing(same show but next unwatched episode). Sometimes I just wanna watch a funny show but cant decide. It would be nice to have a simulated live tv type of experience. What do you guys think?

I’ve been wanting the same thing for a long time. This would really help me to convince my wife to finally cut the cord. She doesn’t like navigating through Plex for something to watch when she doesn’t know what specifically to watch. If I were able to show a mock-guide that looked like a live TV guide, it would be perfect. I could create fake channels by genre (like you said) or any other collection of shows, and when a show is selected, it would start playing at that point in time (think 32 minutes into an hour long show). It would then be simple enough to rewind to the beginning if desired.
I would love to create this plugin myself, but I lack one key ability; the ability to code. If such a plugin or app already exists, can someone please point me in the right direction? Alternately, if anyone feels like they’d want to start this project, let me know. I’m a business analyst with a background in software testing validation. I’d love to help.
