I currently follow a lot of television shows and I think that it would be very neat to see a feature that would display episodes of television shows that I follow that are not yet in my collection. Here's what I have in mind. In the settings panel, I would love to see a section labeled missing episodes. When activated, it would then show a selection box that lists all television shows in your collection. By default they would all be selected. But this would give the option to uncheck and deactivate the feature for shows that you don't wish to see this feature on. When the option is turned on, I would like to see the missing episodes displayed on the Recently Aired page of the plex/web and on pages that display the season of a television show. Of course, when they are displayed, they should be faded or clearly marked in some way that they are not currently part of your owned media. This would be really cool for being able to see what TV shows have new episodes out that I haven't downloaded and added to my collection yet.
Thoughts?
I agree with something like this, though I have a bit of a different reason for it...
I would like it to tell you that you are missing an episode somewhere in your existing collection (eg you have ep 1-7 and 9-20 but not ep 8)
- This is the part I am more interested in as it has occasionally happened that I skipped an episode purely because I didn't check the ep numbers (just queue the entire season and watch)
- It would therefore be nice if something (eg a red !) be displayed next to a series with missing episodes (maybe the criteria can be a little refined to stop it displaying ! everywhere for every ep that gets released)
- the check for this is also slightly easier than constantly needing to check everything: one check could perform a "do you have the last episode of this season?" check and the other would perform an offline check of consistency with ep numbers up to that number. The problem might come in to verify if the current "last" episode is the final for that season or not... (eg has not aired yet)

The thetvdb.com index has an aired date, it would just check that and indicate accordingly :)
Sickbeard does this, just use that.
It should be easy for plex to fixa this, so one don’t need to use a third party app like sick beard that is a good tool, but still another program.
I’d love to see this implemented also.
Some seasons of TV shows have odd numbers (not the standard 12, 24), so when you see you have 14 episodes, it makes you think you may be missing something. Having Plex display missing episode information would be hugely helpful.
