bump :(
most annoying thing is that some Metadata's are just horrible and there is no way to change this.
(highlighted area is "ONE" actor ;))
This mess was caused by the Wikipedia metadata agent and has been fixed a couple of months ago.
oh, i see. thanks.
BUMP. Want this feature and when searching for this request I noticed someone was asking to have actor profiles. I think that those things are something that would be nice down the road as well. Like Director, Producer, Actor, even Film Score and such things as that

then vote for it ! :)
by "liking" the first post .. thats where the dev's look at
I can't believe that this functionality isn't already in the program. Even giving instructions on how to edit the DB by hand to add an actor would work for me (certainly not the preferred way). It just seems that if there is an option for the studio and even a tagline, that something as glaringly obvious as the cast would be there. The metadata is there, there's a spot in the DB for it, let me add an actor, pretty please with a cherry on top.

I agree, this feature would be an amazing thing to have, save me the trouble of looking at IMDB or the likes, certainly something I hope the developers consider for a future version. I know there were similar add-ons for XBMC, not sure if any are still maintained though, it's been a few years since I last used XBMC (pretty much when I was introduced to Plex). But for the time being, adding a box for the cast metadata to be edited on the EDIT screen would be nice, and seems like it'd be a simple task.
+1 For editing cast!
+1 for editing cast!
+ 1 for cast edit
+1 as well, being able to edit the cast/actors seems like a truly necessary feature to me - not only for movies and tv shows, but also (and especially) for home videos and other types of media. e.g. i have a seperate library for music concerts where the actors would be an essential metadata information. it could also be very useful for picture sets.
Would really like to see this added, as a lot of my movies have incorrect cast data that I would really like to correct. This seems to be an incredibly highly requested feature, and yet it has been unresolved for literally years. Here’s a Plex employee saying it was a to-do item in 2013.
How in the hell is this not possible? Seriously, after this many years, how can the lack of ability to edit the cast in a movie still be on the “to-do list”?
+1 for editing cast =D>
+1 !!!
I cannot believe that once the wrong data gets entered by an update that gets the movie wrong cannot be corrected. Fix this ASAP! I can change directors and writers… Why not the cast? :((
I just voted by liking the initial post.
I would very much like to see this feature. I find it a bit ridiculous that this field can only be populated through the use of agents, but can’t be populated/changed manually.
Isn’t all this data handled by external sources?
I thought this was all handled by external sources?
Just checked myself, it seems there are several agents in use. The “Plex Movie” agent gives several options from where to pull cast list.
I will say that plex often won’t retroactively update things. You might need to adjust the agents and then force a metadata refresh on the library. Might fix the problem
Yes, for the most part. But it doesn’t help if the media isn’t listed in external sites such as themoviedb.org (e.g. home videos where you want to use the cast field as a way to reference who’s in the video,) or if these sites contain inaccurate information (as some users in this thread have pointed out.)
Both themoviedb.org and thetvdv.com are user edited/supported sites. If you find something wrong, fix it. Thus you help yourself and others.
