Feature Request: Edit Cast Lists

Does anyone know if this plugin still works?

I miss this option very much. For the rarest content, it is basically mandatory to manually edit/add the cast, which is also an important option whenever you need to search for productions featuring the same actors. It still amazes me how Plex can allow a lot of customization except THIS one.
Please, add this feature!

Best Answer I’ve Got so Far is MetaX metadata editor. It works put in MetaData on Home Movie…

Wouldn’t it even better to fix from the source than fix from our local media? Like TV database and Movie database which Plex also utilized. If we update there, Plex can refresh it meta and get the correct value. Small group of people fix one and benefit to everyone. So, others can fix other and benefit everyone else.
I had spent years to perfecting my Music library. And I bet everyone out there are doing the same redundant work. (Sharing my music library has legal concern but not the meta data, which as least I haven’t seen those companies get in legal trouble yet.)

So, Plex can open up the database and we can all perfecting it. I am tired of updating my library after refresh meta data, move a library or change the file/folder names. This is very not good use of our time.

Let’s see how we can collaborate our effort to make a greater good.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but have you actually used this to add credits to Plex titles? Looking at their website it seems like it simply embeds metadata in the file itself which as far as I know Plex doesn’t use.

Did you ever find an answer on this? I looked at the repo and it hasn’t been updated in 4 years.

Plex does consider embedded metadata – including cast, director, screenwriter, title, description, genre, content rating, studio. Make sure you have enabled the related configuration (for Plex Movie libraries → Prefer local metadata in the library configuration; for other library types enable Local Media Assets for the respective agent)

This has been around for 8+ years now. Online databases are better, but will never, ever be completely accurate for the simple reason that we may choose to classify a show or movie differently than the online databases. For example, I may combine the parts of a short TV miniseries into a single movie. For example, try the Lifetime miniseries “Marry Me” from 2010, starring Lucy Liu as a movie and you can clearly see what I mean.

We absolutely require the ability to edit ALL of the information plex is storing about our media and we need to be able to “protect” the data we manually enter from any automatic refresh activity as well. This has never been an optional thing and has consistently been one of the biggest annoyances I’ve had with plex since I started using it. It is distressing to see so many features being added that have zero interest to me (except for “How do I completely disable this new, unwanted feature?”) while fundamental functions like this one are COMPLETELY IGNORED for nearly a DECADE!
