[Feature Request] Export Metadata

Hello,
I understand the plex team is busy with a lot. This is a feature request idea for scheduled backups. As all users in the community enjoy plex and grow their libraries, everyone is open to server crashes or hardware failure, disk failure ect.
I would like to see plex implement a method that allows users to backup their metadata libraries to a file (.zip).

It would be handy to be able to

  • manually run a metadata backup

  • ability to have a scheduled metadata backup

As this directory
*PLEX\library\Application Support\Plex Media Server*
Holds many small files it takes ages to move and copy this data anywhere. To allow plex to export this data to a single file for backup and restore purposes would be handy.

Those are my thoughts, not yours.

Thank you,

You know that Plex has a built-in option to create backups of your database as a scheduled job? (though it’s not a backup of all the data; the database e.g. does not contain your posters etc.)

If you run Tautulli, it has a metadata export function that’s pretty robust, including artwork.

Thank you for the response. I was aware of these features and went through some of them before the post. However, I do not believe this pulls the GBs of data to a backup file which is what I was attempting to explain.
I do appreciate this however.

Hello,

I will have to check this out and look into it.
Hope it lines up with what I am looking for.
Thank you.
