The new Win10 app is amazing, but I’m really missing a “real” fullscreen mode, like the old Plex Home Theater that starts as fullscreen. From what I’ve gathered, we can only enter fullscreen after a movie starts playing?
What I’m suggesting is adding that little fullscreen button in the title bar I’ve seen in some apps. You can see what I mean in the picture below. Would that be something that could be done?
The issue is that the little fullscreen button in the titlebar you’re referring to is typically only present in older 8.1 style apps. The new UWP instead allows app creators to invoke fullscreen from within the app itself. That said a fullscreen shortcut key (like the VLC UWP app) could work, or an in-app button to invoke fullscreen. Although it cannot be guaranteed that the app will always launch in fullscreen mode. AFAIK this is decided by the system, and the only way to ensure apps are going to launch fullscreen is to use tablet mode.
Aha, so the API for that button is no longer there?
For me, it would be fine if it didn’t launch fullscreen, as long as I had the option of enabling it somehow.
The option should be clearly visible though imo. Maybe putting it in the bottom bar with the Refresh button and such?
The API to make it full screen is still there, however the actual fullscreen button is no longer provided by the OS as @TheMooDude mentioned. We’re deciding on what to do, but adding a custom fullscreen button in the bar does seem to make sense.
