I’ve been using Plex to watch a lot of tutorials lately and being able to go to 1.5x or 2x would be a godsend. Amazing how useful that is on YouTube.

Looks like a change in the ui layer broke my script. Here is an update:javascript:(function(){var%20s=prompt("Speed%20multiplier",%20'1.5');%20document.getElementsByTagName('video').item(0).playbackRate=s;}());
Where do you run that? Or how do you install that? Just add to the console manually each time? Or using tampermonkey/greasemonkey? Or can you modify the underlying JS? If so, where?
The above options all sound pretty good, btw, for the browser.
But my wish is to use Plex for my audiobooks (and maybe Podcasts, eventually) on my Android device through the Plex Android app.
I get things take time but has there ever been a mention someone is even working on this? I mean 4 years and like 150 posts has there ever beep a peep about it, even if to say “Not at the immediate time nothing is in the works”? Just seems weird and a bit long to say not much of nothing on it.

And unfortunately there is another feature request where you should vote. Which involves clicking the Like button on the first post. Go here, click “Like” under the first post. Make sure the Like number goes up, if it goes down you just un-liked it (if you unlike it click it again, you can toggle back and forth).

Plex just implemented the first step towards this! Variable playback speed for audio files in the Android 6.12.0 app that was just released. I’m so excited! Hopefully this means they will add this feature in other players and later for video files!

Yeah 4 years is way too long on such a basic request that most other popular players have (and the level of effort is so small, as demonstrated a few posts back by user jelwell… literally 1 line of code!)
I am happy to see the Android app implement this feature, but I don’t use it - I need it on all my Smart TVs.
BTW I can’t access the link for voting… appears to be restricted to Premium members only.
I totally agree. I love plex. However this is a basic feature that is painfully lacking.
For those using Plex in Chrome, I found this nifty extension for speeding up any HTML5 video streams, including those in Plex:

I saw this and thought, great, I can use plex for audiobooks now, but it only slows down. The slider just bounces back if I set it faster.
Also, I can’t tell yet if it adjusts for pitch, but it’s much more useful if that’s an option.
+1 – Audio option to increase playback speed saved my butt a couple days ago. Had to listen to a lecture in a very short period of available time with no other means of accessing it. Everything worked perfectly on iOS with the current public release version of Plex. Thanks, guys! As everyone else has said prior, videos next?
I would be remiss not to say thank you for the progress we see now, though.
Is this still a possibility? +1
Help us out plex devs!
Would really value this too!
I would also like to see this. Would make Plex much more useful to watch Lectures.
