[Feature Request] instant disable function for server access (kids)

Hi All.

Feature Request

I'd like to see the ability to instantly stop access to PMS for specific users.

reason...

My kids don't watch normal TV, why would they we have Plex, they don;t know what an advert is! it's great, and the envy of many friends.

Plex time is special for them, they get the homework done, they get Plex time on their iPads.

however I'd like to be able to stop this access on demand (bed time etc.)

Background

having to configure and manage my shares/libraries with content according to rating (for sharing with kids) is considerable effort esp. with a large library. it's clunky but kinda gets the job done, it would be helpful/ideal (to have more parental control) as I only see this becoming more of the default for many families that move away from traditional tv, to watching streamed, on-demand, or pre-recorded content etc. thus parental control likely to grow in need.

this also leads to being able to see what's been watched by who, what is being watched by who, what's popular etc, with some form of peak load indicator (knowing when your friends are hammering your bandwidth)

thoughts?

Turn the computer off that is running Plex?

Tho, I’d be willing to bet there are nontechnical solutions available

or maybe there is a software to block the whole ipad.

But I agree, time frame for accounts would be nice too.

With the Parental Controls request that is already on the forums, adding in a time lock/restriction is something that has been recommended as a feature. Certainly if/when Parental Controls gets implemented it can open up the door for more interesting Access Control Lists & Restrictions (ACLs to the tech people out there)

Some routers allow to block access on a schedule.

Shut down the service...
