[Feature request] Native trakt integration

Since last.fm has now been added I think it’d be appropriate to add trakt support as well so we don’t have to rely on a 3rd party addon for it.

I would like that too. Its annoying the mark my watched shows manually.

For those of you with any marginally legal or outright illegal stuff on your Plex Media Server, you had better hope that this never gets integrated into Plex. The legalities of ownership could have a number of people winding up in their respective Federal court systems fighting off copyright violations.

This would be like standing on a street corner near the cop shop soliciting tricks… You are just asking to get caught.

If that were the cast people would have had the same sort of issues with last.fm, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of any court case at all regarding it.

Just because you haven’t heard of it, doesn’t mean you want to be the first…

It’s your choice, ultimately… If you feel the risk is worth it, then go for it… At least you been warned.

It’s not even really a warning, this hasn’t been an issue with anyone using trakt or lastfm, if it was it would have happened before now and Plex adding in lastfm support is exactly the same.

I have recently asked Trakt to provide better support for PMS, specifically dealing with multiple users and simultaneous streams. I do think the platform is cool, but it certainly doesn’t integrate perfectly with Plex, and is more useful as a client side integration in its current form in my opinion.

To be brutally honest, the only reason I want such integration is because of a lack of a nice set of server analytics that are built right into Plex platform. I think we all want such reporting tools…mainly because its cool

To the security conscious above, you can at a minimum set your Trakt profile to private which is what I do.

The main reason I want trakt is for the recommendation of other shows and the ability to have a calender based on the shows I have without having to worry about adding anything as it’d autoupdate with Plex if it’s ever added. Plus the 3rd party version of it only works with one user, not like the way lastfm was added.

I’ve mentioned this before but I would say there’s no chance anyone ripping there DVD’s would come up against this, unless ripping DVD’s was suddenly made illegal. It goes off dates, so if you haven’t watched something at home before its released in cinema then why would it matter?

Also there’s different countries involved including some that even “allow” pirating content for personal use and who’s to say you aren’t just spoofing the name of the show you’re watching.

I would love to see this added as well. Lack of multi-user support with the Trakt plugin, kills me.

Count me in for this feature.

Regarding the complainers of legalities, Trakt lets you mark your profile private for a reason.

I would also love deep trakt integration, in the meantime trakt plex channel beta now supports multiple users

@richipargo
Concerning multi-user support, it is very rough, but yes its there. It should be noted though, that there are some limitations. But if…

  1. you want to exclude scrobbles from certain users (most useful feature)
  2. you want to scrobble for multiple people to separate Trakt accounts. (so for people outside your household, not only is a separate trakt account is required, but you also need to know their Plex username/password (so not so useful imho, from the testing I did)

I use Trakt mainly to help me make choices about new TV/Movies. So I let it scrobble everything played from all uses. All this data is tied to the main PMS account. All users, including myself/household use separate Plex accounts, so it doesn’t matter to me that the watched shows are from everyone (ie everyones watched shows are pushed to Trakt, but Trakt does not push watch status to our individual accounts, just the main account that is used for administration only).

Yes but not managed ones yet.

There should be no reasoning whether you want it or not, you going to be using or not or how you use trakt.
I would also love to see trakt integration for Plex Home.

Agreed. I see no good reason NOT to include this in PMS.

I hadn’t checked Trakt in a while and just noticed I never even added the Unsupported App Store back after my clean upgrade to Windows 10 on the box I run Plex on. Now apparently the Unsupported App Store is offline/broken or sort of working (hard to tell from the threads here?) so I’m left with no Trakt at all for the time being…

You should check https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/102818/rel-trakt#latest
@fuzeman is doing really great job. Everything seems to be working for me now.

Yes I would like this too. But it has to have at least the same features of the plugin, not just being able to simply scrobble. The ability of the plugin to automatically maintain your “collection” on trakt is awesome for example.

This would also be the only real way for users to scrobble when they are guests at someone elses server, just as is the case with last.fm. It is currently possible in the plugin also, but the server admin needs to do some rather involving work to make that happen and the whole thing is very hack-ish.

Seeing how trakt promotes Plex on their homepage and such, this really should happen.

+1

Native support would enable watch status syncing between multiple servers. This would be very useful, that way if its your server or a shared server your watching. Everything will be marked appropriately for watched/unwatched and progress…
