Feature request or already available - Sorting movies into TV extras folder AND movie folder

I have seen this touched on but never actually addressed. I am now in a situation where I have this issue so I want to know if there is a way to do this without having duplicate files (an option for me…but simply a bad option and bad practice…)

I have a couple TV series that also have associated movies. Normally, I would simply put the movies into the movie folder and be happy with that. However, these particular series list the movies as BONUS material.

What I would like to do is keep the movie in the movies folder but reference it in the TV series Bonus folder. Either via a file link on the system or some sort of pointer via the PLEX server.

If a link, then the server would have to recognize a link as the actual movie file I would guess.

Is it currently possible?

Depends on what platform you run your Plex Server or actually how you host the media.
On a Linux/macOS system you can create hard links of those files. Those will appear like regular files but don’t need the extra space. I had tested symbolic links before (that’s the usual Shortcuts or Aliases you get on your OS) – however Plex couldn’t really work with those…

Pointers on Plex level won’t do as you want the link to an individual movie/episode – not on a library level.

Or you throw the movies and the tv show into a collection together.
