[Feature Request] playlist/series suggestions

[Playlist Feature]
At the moment if you watch a playlist, you can’t exit without having to remember what movie/episode you’re on, we can currently rectify this with smart playlists by filtering unplayed, but if you ever chose to rewatch this playlist you would then have to mark all the files that exists in this list as unplayed, this becomes tedious when you have something like the marvel universe in chronological order, since it contains movies and a variety of marvel tv shows from shield to jessica jones, luke cage etc…

It would be nice to have a feature incorporated into playlists that allows us to continue watching where we left off.

[Series Feature]
So in order to watch a “played” series, we need to mark them as “unplayed”, but this can become tedious when you have multiple users who aren’t familiar with plex and thus relies on you marking these shows as unplayed, now this could be kids, siblings, parents, grandparents etc… point being it can become a hassle and this is something I know from experience, my parents rewatch prison break, siblings rewatch true blood, vampire diaries/originals etc… and thankfully I don’t have to deal with kids since the only kid media I have are movies, anyway, I suggest two possible solutions.

Solution 1: we could have a new watch state and call it “replay”, unlike the current watch states which we use to mark our media as played/unplayed, replay would be controlled by plex and would only be activated when a user watches and completes the first episode of a series (S01E01).

The other solution, would be to have plex automatically mark all the files within the series as unplayed, once a user rewatches the first episode of that series (S01E01), this solution would perhaps be easiest to implement.

  1. Playlists - Remember position for subsequent resume
  2. Mark for rewatch
