Guys, it’s 2019. Why in the WORLD do all plex player clients/platforms STILL default to 720p? Why haven’t you changed the default playback option to direct play, or at least 1080p??? I have been patiently waiting for this for YEARS, thinking you guys will get to it eventually.
I cannot for the life of me understand why this isn’t the case. I should not have to explain to all my new users (and some of my current users who switch platforms and forget) that to get a better experience, they have to go through their settings and set up direct play. There is a lot of needless transcoding going on and it’s just ENTIRELY pointless.
Now, I personally don’t have anything against my users transcoding stuff if they WANT, I have the processing power and maybe they’re using cell data and want a smaller file. That’s fine. But for God’s sake guys, stop DEFAULTING our users to 720p and implement direct play by default! Please, it’s high time we get this fixed already!
