Perhaps it would be more advantageous to have Plex devā€™s fix the bugs in Android Auto, though. Iā€™m really disappointed with the unnecessarily heightened security that prohibits seamless, user-friendly integration into my vehicle.

Thanks for you thoughtsā€™ on it, please feel free to start a thread and vote for that yourself rather than attaching your opinion to a request thatā€™s for a widget.

I use Plexamp (love the crossfade and no compression option for flac) and it has a controller for when the phone is locked. Use it regularly on my bike rides and it integrates with Android Auto. Although you need to be a Plexpass member. A widget though, it does not have.

FWIW, I also have the Amazon Alexa Auto and use the voice activation to tell Plex what music to playā€¦ because you know youā€™re driving and should pay attention. Anyway, the Alexa voice is an interesting experience, but the thing is that the results with Alexa Plex integration work better than Google Assistant with Plex.

Also trying to find a music app that can replace Google Play Music. Have been wanting to get all my media set up on Plex for years and could totally see this being the final push I need to do so, but am SO sad the Plex apps donā€™t have music widgets. The music widget from Google Play Music was always one of the things I listed as one of my favorite things about having an Android phone! Neither YoutTube Music nor Spotify (who both have widgets) are working as well to keep track of what music I was listening to and just quickly press play on them (or have them auto start playing when I get in my car), they must be clearing a cache or something?! The original post feature request about being able to pick up where I left off without having to reopen the app hit the nail on the head for me, exactly what Iā€™m looking for! I hope Plex adds this!

They are one in the same, as the real issue rests not with the need for a widget, but with the need for Plex to be assigned as the default music player. This would allow both a widget and the resolution to the Android Auto issues, simultaneously.

I love that widget idea! I was thinking the something similar but different, and they could implement both! My idea is to have a 1x1 widget for Plex playlists to start shuffling (optional) as soon as itā€™s clicked. That way I could automate some cool stuff with Tasker :slight_smile:

Never posted on any board before so sorry if Iā€™m doing it wrong or in the wrong spot but my only and simple request would be maybe work on a widget for the phone thatā€™s it I would like to dedicate one entire screen to Plex and Roku and all my streaming devices and a Plex widget would be the first place I would start plex is still the most useful app Iā€™ve ever owned even 3 years later. I canā€™t rave enough about it I tell everybody I meet about it and tell him I should get it it works almost flawlessly and by almost I mean usually if you reboot it works flawlessly the problem is usually hardware. Computer, Roku, or phone. Thank you for producing such an awesome product.

Thatā€™s interesting, Plex app used to have a widget for play controls, never really used it though.
Wonder when that vanishedā€¦
