Plex has really solved a lot of issues for my music library, and I’m really enthusiastic about using it. I have a feature request, though - I’d like a function that will pick out a random album. I had a ZEN player many years ago that had this function and it fit very well with my listening habits.
Came here to suggest this, though I would add the option to also being able to have Plex choose a random artist.
Random albums and music caching on mobile devices are the two features that keep me from adding my music library back into Plex.

Yes, this is the only think keeping me from using Plex for all my media. Play a random album, or, better, just display a selection of random albums to choose from. This feature really helps me rediscover old albums that I haven’t listened to in a while.
Hello! I would like a plugin or native resource to show random albums. It would be great for movies.
This is something I really miss. I just moved from Madsonic to Plex for music, and I loved that I could get a list of random albums in my Sonos app generated by Madsonic. I have an enormous amount of music and having to traverse the entire album or artist list everytime to pick something out is really not “casual” enough, if you know what I mean.
Is there any way to formally request this as a feature, or is this it…?
If you’re running the latest beta server, and you’re using Plexamp, you’ll now have the ability to shuffle albums. You even get a cool key combo to skip to the next album: Shift+CommandOrControl+Option+Right. (Our other apps are adding station support as well.)
