[Feature request]: Run Windows server as service

I hate that if Windows decides to update, or if my server for any other reason decides to reboot, one have to log in to get the server back up.


Please make the server run as a service. Its long over due.

Have to agree with this. It does seem a bit odd that that it doesn't run as a service to me and was one of the reasons I went with a Linux based server (besides license costs). I have a friend who runs his on windows and would love to see this.

Two things : 

1. There is already a request for this with over 250 supporting and you can add your voice to that and the Plex Ninja's can lock this thread as being duplicate

2. PMS As a Service is as close to a native solution as you will get. What does it not do for you?

1: I didnt bother searching.

2: Still not native. Novice users shouldnt have to resort to hacks or workarounds. The fact that this isnt supported natively by now is a little dissapointing.

I can give you a long list of disappointing things but at least we have a way round this one thanks to cjmurph. The other disappointing things i have no get round for and i would not dare use Plex Media Server as I intended in case I break it again. I have a PMS still running with a daily crash hoping that one day the Plex Devs will find time to look at the dumps. I know i can make that problem go away by rebuilding the server (which I have on another machine) but the problem should not have arisen in the first place
