This would be really handy. I would see this as changing the way servers work fundamentally though, so I can understand why it hasnāt been implemented yet :). In my dream world there would be one database which maintains play state that is shared amongst many servers. These could be things like a local iPhone, a Mac, a NAS, Plex Cloud Sync, e.t.c.
Macās could register themselves as available to transcode files for a weaker NAS, but wouldnāt necessarily have to keep the files (but they could).

also like to have it.

would be great.
+1 It would be brilliant to see this happen.
Still no updates on this?

would be great.
This would be great, with the WD My Passport Wireless Pro coming out which can act like a Plex Media Server, you could sync it with a larger Plex Media Server at home, allowing you to take it with you when traveling.
Currently what I do with my Roku (My FireTV stick just simply wasnāt reliable enough) is load up a tablet with an 128 gig sd card, have it function as a Plex Media Server, grab my HooToo Tripmate, connect to the same wifi and use that to fling to the tv. If we had the ability to sync a Plex Media Server (like a device, we currently are able to do that when connecting a tablet as a client, which can function as a server) It would allow me to take more media, but also have more reliable storage.
Maybe the developers for the My Passport Wireless Pro software could make it also act as a client, with a web interface, similar to the Plex Web.
Just thinking out loudā¦

This is exactly why i want this. I donāt want to sync everything, so Iād like a different PMS (on the WD My Passport Wireless Pro) to be able to act as a sync client against my main PMS at home.
+1 - Would love the sync between servers
+1 - just got a WD Passport Wireless Pro and would love to sync data and meta data from my main Plex server to it. If I just copy the files all the work I did to clean up the names and such will get lost. This is a must have very soon!
Yes; server sync based on Optimized versions. Want to put lower quality, direct play capable copies on WD Passport Wireless Pro and have it stay in sync with main library.
+1 would be awesome!
Another +1 for Passport Wireless Pro to be supported like a client. I already sync my main collection between two 50TB synologys using rsync and Iād like to just have a simple way of managing what gets synced to the my passport.
+1 for me too

LOVE PLEX, I just got a WD Passport Wireless Pro for when my family is on the road and would love to find a way to have the servers automatically sync and transcode to a pre-determined settings like plex-pass on a device when the Wireless Pro connects to the same wifi network.
+1 from me, too
+1 for sure
+1 from me. Really would help
+1 ā This feature is surely needed!
