Allow migration of movies (and possibly other media, I am concerned about movies) between servers. (copy to another server and erase from original).
Allow copy of movies between servers (copy and leave original in place)
Allow remote syncing from one server to another (temporary copy for limited time borrowing of a copy).
I have a primary server at home, and a second one on my laptop. I like to run the server on my laptop at a vacation house occasionally and publish to a large screen TV there. I really don’t have a way to duplicate and take the entire library from home, but would like to keep a good selection of videos for personal use).
Isn’t it the problem that Sync tries to resolve? With lots of Plex apps you can sync locally on your devices, or you could always sync in the cloud if you have enough bandwidth when you want to watch your media.
I get that - you might want to push your content to another server when you are on the LAN (so you can restore play count and play position metadata) but there might be a more elegant way to achieve that.
I would like to do something similar and move content between libraries - like if I wanted to reorganise shows and series but don’t want to lose what I’ve played. Like GoT - I don’t want it cluttering up ‘New Shows’ when I can’t decide if I have given up on it or not.
Equally I’d like to copy existing content and movies onto a portable drive then dump it onto the plex server at my parent’s house
but restore the metadata too (particularly my son’s shows)
