Feature Request: Server Sync

Either use the Windows 8 app or this thing.

https://forums.plex.tv/topic/115593-beta-plex-downloader-desktop-sync/

You'll probably want to use xbmc or something that will download metadata for playing what you download with it.

I have the same need, using two servers for the transcoding horsepower as the Synology doesn't have enough horsepower for all scenarios.  So to be clear, for this case you'd want to sync just Metadata and not the actual data.

The more I thought about this, it would be better to specify a Master and slave servers.  As complicated as that sounds, right now I have to know which Plex Server to use when I'm on the player device, and its effectively a duplicate.  It would be better if I could have the synology be the 'only' server from the perspective of the players and it offloads to a slave server as necessary.  This way tasks like Plex sync and the like could be offloaded, but you really dont get into the scenario where you then have multiple servers from the players perspective.

Server syncing would be epic!

+1 This would be so useful if I could sync between two PMS.

Simplest solution would be if the plex server could be configured to store the data in a SQL server instead of the file-based sqlite database.
In this case several plex servers could easily be configured to use the same database which would keep them perfectly in sync.

And I generally would prefer it if the plex server would save the data in a server-based database because this would make the data available more easily also for other applications.

A work-around might be to store the sqlite database file on a central space (e.g. on a network share). This network share could be mounted and then the path for the database file linked to this mounted share. I guess like this it should be possible for several plex server to access the same sqlite database file, which of course also would keep them in sync.

BTW: to sync several independent plex servers will only make sense if the servers are in the same network (the same LAN or connected by VPN) and if the media to be played is on a network share in this network. Otherwise a remote plex server would not be able to access the media even if it would be able to sync the database.

+1 from me

Hey guys, I have two servers (one at home and one with me at college because the one at college can’t escape the local network) and I’ve just been storing my media on OneDrive to keep both servers current with the media on them. The only problem is that this doesn’t update any metadata changes I might make such as posters or backgrounds. I considered installing Plex to OneDrive but I thought that might cause corruption if two things are trying to update the same database at the same time.
Thoughts?

It is 2016 with still no server sync support for plex pass subscribers. Is this feature viable? I would love to have it!

^^What he said. This would solve so many issue for me. A semifix that would work for me is to have the data replicated via a thirdpartsoftware and just make plex share the metadata.
