Feature Request: share/life server unavailable detection

Server Version#: 1.19.4.2935
Not sure if more people have the same kind of setup like me but plex does something very frustrating.
-My setup: file server with all my media, mac mini with plex server.
-Situation: file server goes down, or a share is temporarily unavailable.
-Result: Plex server immediately assumes that the files have been removed and accordingly removes the shows from its Database and erasing all episode progress status.
After the file server issue is resolve. Plex scannes all shows and adds them as NEW shows. Filling up my recently added section with old shows.

If I do maintenance on the file server I always turn off plex server to avoid this mess. But some interruptions happen spontaneously.

It would be great if plex server could somehow figure out whats going on and not erase all those shows from its DB automatically.
thanks

Server Settings -> Library
Disable Empty trash automatically after every scan.

How would this help?

Listen to the man, he’s correct

okay, I was just wondering how it would resolve the issue, thats all.

File server goes down > files disappear > triggers new scan. If you don’t delete the metadata of the files that were removed (empty trash), as soon as they the server is up again plex will just “connect” everything together without the necessity of a new match.

In this case, Plex is doing the right thing.

This is frustrating :upside_down_face:
