I understand this new ability with Dev access to Apple Siri was just announced, and both MacOS and IOS 10 are still beta. But I look at this as an opportunity for Plex to do the PLEX PASS community a huge WIN.
Please begin your work with allowing Plex to be voice controlled with Siri.
I can image nothing better than driving in my car and simply asking Siri to play my favorite tunes. No longer putting my life at risk navigating through libraries, albums to find “that song or album” (Hopefully no one is watching video while driving)…rather than looking at the road and cars in front of me.
We can now send text with our voice!
We can navigate to our homes and other locations with our voice!
We can turn on our house lights (Phillips Hue), home heating and cooling systems (NEST), alarm systems (Live Watch), etc…With our voice!
We can now do many things simply by saying “Hey Siri”, Do this….
If I could simply press my home button, or say “Hey Siri, Play Album, Song, etc with Plex……that would be Huge!
Thanks,
Still hoping to see my other feature request responded to……
Yeah not going to happen anytime soon, because the Siri SDK/Sirikit doesn’t support media stuff. (Also these new siri things just work on iOS and not on macOS.)

Thanks for the reply, but Apple just this past week announced Siri for the New OSX (Now called MacOS that am I am running in a VM currently and Siri works well on MacOS), and the BIG announcement for Siri was Apple “Finally” opening the Siri SDK for developers. I am not sure how the new Siri SDK looks and what options they allow, but its worth a look.
All a person can do is ask, and “maybe” if Apple is serious about opening their software SDKs to developers they will allow developers to ask for additional functions. It is clear Apple is running dry on new ideas and that tells me they are open to ideas from outside Apple. So if Plex discovers the SDK doesn’t support a function, “maybe” Apple will add it.

Yeah i know, but the Siri SDK is just for iOS and not for macOS and tvOS (or watchOS) and you can read up here what’s supported in the SDK and as i mentioned before media stuff is not supported at the time. ANd apple usually doesn’t add stuff like this because devs ask for it (sadly).

Again, great response and thank you for setting me straight. I did believe that Siri was now open on all platforms. But to be honest, I am cool if its only for IOS. Now if Media items are the only blocking issue, then let Apple be the person(s) to say NO. This way the world can see that IOS is not evolving because Apple is being stuborn. I am sure you are reading and hearing the same things myself and others are, Apple is getting heavy criticism for not evolving. If Tim keeps this “lack of innovation” going, some thing tells me Tim will not be part of Apple’s evolution.
Maybe Plex can work around this blockage and provide functions that allow the execution of a Library playlist, or something…
Sadly media playback is one of the domains open to developers right now but hopefully it will be added in the near future. Hope Plex will support it then!
They’ve said they’re starting small and then expanding to more categories later once it stabilizes, so I imagine some kind of media integration would be next…
Looking for the same thing via echo …searching “voice control” via this forum returned very little. Found this in my google searching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5IsDrzqQCs
