For the most part the subtitles that I add automatically either through plex or by another program are great. with one major flaw, the offset timing. So here is a run down of the things I expect from a feature like this if it ever sees the light of dawn:
Long term functionality of the feature:
- all clients having the option to offset the subtitle.
- one server-side saving of the offset for each subtitle track.
- support for both external and internal subtitles.
Minimum Initial functionality :
- support for external .srt files
- clients supported: roku, appletv, os x and windows 10. (maybe Android and ios)
- one client-side saved offset per movie.
Now I’m not a programmer (yet) and have no idea if this is possible but since I know other media players have a similar feature it would seem like it is a doable job. Modifying the file itself instead of storing Metadata for each subtitle would probably be a neater solution but again, no expert.
