We have recently started using Plex to view our hard drive recordings over our living room large TV screen as a family. We use ROKU to view in the living room but I set things up on my laptop in another room as the server. One feature we miss (having previously used VLC player, is the ability to offset the sync of subtitles. (my wife is partially deaf) We appreciate the addition of the sub title offset ability in the settings area as well as the ability to download the matching subtitle - but often there is quite a big difference in the sync - sometimes even 30 seconds! The only options for ‘resyncing’ are the tiny increments and decrements which can take an age (and tons of mouse clicks!) to offset a subtitle that is more than a second or two off.
Can I humble suggest you either offer the ability to click into the number of the offset and allow a text entry there, and/or provide a link to the subtitle text file so it can be edited directly using another app for offsets and a re-save.
I should mention that when testing this via a browser. It took me about 15 minutes to sync up the subtitles that I downloaded within the Plex app. And when I left and returned - it did remember the offset, however the playback totally ignored the offset value. This is one of the reasons I’d like the ability to type in the offset and then permanently burn in the offset to the subtitle file. Or have access to the subtitle file so as to do this with another app.
Any chance you could include this in a future update?
Thank you.
