My new Canon camera shoots in CR3 format (Canon Raw v3). I would love the ability to see the original raw photo on plex without converting them first.
(i belive CR2 is already supported)

My CR2 files are working as well, but CR3 would be nice as well. I use my Plex App on the phone to Show Images I took but haven’t yet edited and exported to JPG.

did you install something else, like a plugin ? to put CR2 working ?
I installed Plex on a Synology NAS and I can’t preview my RAW files :-/

This would be great… I’m currently converting all my canon cr3 files to .dng which takes more space… and it’s a bit time consuming…
Besides, we live in such times that i can upload my photos directly from my canon camera to my NAS over the internet! I shouldn’t need to convert them

Hey Mario!
If you’re converting your files to DNG, that should actually be saving you about 20% of space, unless you’re also keeping the CR2/CR3 files. If so, that would be redundant and unnecessary. DNG files are supported both by Lightroom (ACR) and Capture One, so there should be no need to keep copies in both formats.

Hi just wanting to add my voice to the pool for CR3 support. Given that it’s a little newer I can understand why it hasn’t been implemented yet. That being said, it’s also going to gain more and more use as Canon continues their development of R series cameras and more and more users (like myself just recently) acquire and adopt the format. Please support this format! And thank you Plex team for all that you do! Great platform.

Dear Plex team i’d highly apreciate if the cr3 files could get suported too, actually i was hoping for these files to be suportet for quite a while now. It sometimes would make things quite a bit easyer and quicker for me. I hope you guys get the time to implement this feature sometime in the close future.

My two cents:
- Canon’s RAW CR3 format was released in 2018.
- QNAP and Synology photo apps don’t support it.
- There’s no Android (Google) TV app that supports CR3.
IMHO, this would be a real “stand out from the crowd, get there first” Plex feature (and a feature that would make me buy a Plex pass - if you need encouragement).
The only way I can view photos on the TV without post-processing is to connect the camera directly to the TV, or cast my phone running Adobe Lightroom.
Of course, having a zoom, pan and rating function would be very handy too.
