[Feature Request] TV Post-Play screen ala Netflix

Just thinking about what could make this client the best one out there amongst all Plex clients, and this feature I feel would do it.

 

The idea is, if possible, once a show ends, a prompt to end it OR automatically go to the next episode after an X second timer (ala netflix).  This could be a user enabled feature (on by default) since I think so many people would appreciate this functionality.

 

 

Any thoughts are welcome, here's the PS3 UI for an example of what I'm thinking, obvioulsy we'd be working within the GUI limitations of the Apple TV.

Only if it is an option. I hate when Netflix goes to the next show automatically in the iOS client. Often it results in a lot of wasted bandwidth as shows run on after I have fallen asleep. This is not an uncommon occurrence :slight_smile:

Optional of course.  I know myself and a ton of friends absolutely love having it continually go through, makes crushing a TV show that much easier ;)

Interesting idea although I do see one issue, if you get distracted or fall asleep it will totally screw up the watched count for a series or tens of episodes.

Do a search on the web about Netflix’ forced implementation of automatic play ( there is no option). Many people are not happy about it.

Agreed, though for that reason it should definitely be an option.

Yeah forcing features is no good, having the option for those who would find the feature beneficial would be great however.

How about having it ask to continue play next episode? Like press ok to continue. If not pressed within 20 sec. it goes back to menu.

Either way, I think automatic would be a great option, but that would work as well.

Definitely food for though, although this or something similar does seem a cleaner approach.

I will add it to the discussions about features (i am gathering a list to go through with the guys).

Should be an option. And why limit the screen to only be next episode? Why not display some items from 'On Deck' with the next episode of the current show highlighted by default?

is there any news on pursuing this?
if it's not possible to set a 'play next' toggle a nice medium ground would be play x# episodes and then prompt user to continue watching. Netflix on my bluray player does something like play 5 episodes, and then "are you still there? press ok to continue watching", and rinse repeat every 5 or so episodes.

I am interested too. Is it really considered to be added though?

It has already been added on plex web...I would hazard a guess its coming to the slower moving platforms also.  Plex web as a web app is the easiest to quick iterate
