I would love to see groups being created, allowing us more diverse control by groups for items such as:
Libraries Available (currently per user setting)
Stream Qualities (limit users to 720p or SD)
Plays-per-month/week/day
Total bandwidth allowed per day/week/month
Restricted play rules (time of day, movie rating, etc)
Currently Plex is growing new features while ignoring the most basic features, control. I understand that this is not supposed to be a way for us to setup our own netflix service, but even basic controls are lacking.

This is actually a number of Feature Requests we’ve all been asking for, but tied directly to the group idea. Which is a GREAT idea, IMO. So in that regard I see this as a completely separate request. And much more expansive than the original Group request.
Having a “Kids” group and setting the permissions there for that group, then just tagging those that fit the group as members.Do the same for “Teens”, “Pre-Adult” (17-19), then Adults, and then other specialized groups such as “PTA Members” or “Church Elders” so racier films don’t get put into their libraries by mistake.
The beauty of this would be only needing one library for movies and another for TV shows and use the Sharing Restrictions (misnamed) to tie those groups to what is appropriate for that entire group.
The most restrictive permissions are always in effect, so someone is a member of 2 groups, the one with the tightest controls is the one that affects them. Unless those restrictions are over-ridden on the individual level. So Individual permissions trump group permissions, but the most restrictive group permission trumps the least restrictive group permissions.
If we EVER get something like PlexRequests rolled into the Web App, these same permissions could be used to determine if someone can make 1 requested movie per week or 5 or 15.
A request for the same feature exists already, and it has more votes.
Therefore this one is closed.
Votes are given back to the users who voted on this request. Please think of re-voting in the other thread if you still want it.
Please search before creating a new suggestion thread.
Only one feature per thread.
