Feature Request: Widget or app to select a picture/video library to upload new pics to

Since you can already select which photo/video library to automatically upload media to, it would be awesome if there was an extra app (or a widget for Android or similar platforms) that would pop up a list of photo libraries to pick from (maybe family/selfies/professional/kids/“unsavory”/sports/food) that would automatically backup any photos (taken after that point in time, for a certain amount of time, or maybe until the camera app is closed) to the selected library AND open the device’s (configured) camera app to take pictures.

This would allow things like family or professional photos to be taken with the same device and “automatically” sorted into appropriate libraries, both for the sake of organization AND to avoid unwanted things from showing up in slide shows (selfies, document scans, nudes, food plates or whatever you may want backed up, but don’t want your kids or parents seeing on their Plex clients’ slideshows)

So…

  1. “extra”/“side” app (or widget)
  2. tap it to open a list of photo/video libraries (may be configurable which are available in this list and may include “don’t upload” option[?])
  3. a selection configures the upload service to direct any new images to be uploaded to the selected library (or not uploaded)
  4. camera app is then opened (to photo or video mode if possible[?]) to allow taking pics
  5. bonus, maybe: if camera app is detected as closed, the library may go back to a default(?)

Also, this could open the camera app and then have a overlay (if possible) for the library selection, giving time for slower devices to start the camera app/hardware

Plex have announced the “camera upload” feature will be discontinued.

In line with this announcement, we’re closing related feature suggestions.
