Feature Request: x265 in Optimized Versions

Hi there! Maybe it’s just me, but it would VERY nice to have the option to re-encode my videos to x265, just by having that option on the dropdown list in “Optimized Versions”. Maybe it’s just to much trouble to implement it, but for sure I would find it very useful!

PS: Sorry, I’ve opened this post in a wrong place. Could you please move it to, Feature Suggestions? thanks!

Requires pretty significant investment in hardware and you might get one real time stream for the effort. Aside from that their already exists a request.

Thanks @Tiebierius for your reply. I think what I’m proposing is a different thing than what the user @mrow is requesting. He is talking about to live transcode from x264 to x265.

What I’m talking on my post, is adding the option x265 in the “Optimized Versions” feature. You know… Instead of saving a new version of my video in x264 720p 2mb .mp4 file…I want to do the same the same, but with x265 to save space. Hardware is not an issue, but storage sometimes can be

Hope my msg is a little more clear now.
Regards,
FF

Realtime versus Optimizing still requires “H265 encoding”.

H265 encoding requires additional licencing.

oh ok, didn’t know for encoding x265 in linux using the CPU you needed a license. It’s a pity for sure. Thanks for your reply @ChuckPa!
