I have been pursuing a complete media solution for a number of years now, and right now Plex / XBMC have come very close to complete for me. I have a few issues with the media manager, but all the ones I have used do, and while Plex isnt my favorite, its not bad.
I am currently using Plex for windows as the server with android (tablet and cell) and roku clients (2x). I also have a PS3 and a sony blu-ray player, one of which is probably getting sold soon. Plex works great with all of these.
My requests are as follows:
Live TV streaming with guide from an antenna or clearQAM source (HDHomerun or from tuner in the server) I know this exists via EyeTV but something integrated into the plex server for windows would be nice.
An integrated movie/tv library, that includes local, and streaming sources, (netflix, itunes, amazon, vudu, etc). I have yet to be able to make .srm files work effectively.
An app like the psuedotv app for xbmc, it creates streaming channels based on local content. (Have an entire season of favorite show in your library? This would stream the episodes in order or randomly on a preset channel, just like watching the major cable networks.) This version would be great as a server based app that multiple clients could stream from.
I would also like to see an android/iOS app that can control multiple clients (ie Roku, windows, etc). I think works for plex media center on mac, but it does not work for windows or the roku devices.
Just a few ideas. The first piece of software that can integrate these items effectively gets my business.
