[Feature suggestion] Per-track album art

Is there a way to assign different images to individual tracks on an album? If no, are there plans to implement this?

There’s no way to do that currently.

Plex doesn’t generally discuss their planned features. I suggest creating a request in the Feature Suggestions area (after checking to see if there already is one).

If you don’t find an existing request, you can edit this one and change the Category to move it there.

Done. Thanks.

Would you mind sharing your use case where per-track artwork is improving the user experience?

I have custom compilation albums. For example, I downloaded the various League of Legends champion themes from SoundCloud and stitched them into one album.

But, since it’s not an official album with one piece of cover art and, since it makes more sense to view the art of the character whose theme is playing anyway, each track has its own art. MusicBee does this nicely.

In fact, you can have one main image that each track will contain, and then additional per-track images. Then, while the song is playing, the images in the track will appear in sequence, which is great for albums with alternate covers. I have some Pink Floyd albums with 5 or more album covers stored in each song, and it’s great to seem the all rotate in the course of a song.

There’s also the Album-plus-tacked-on-EP, where you could make the case that the EP tracks need their original separate cover.

But yes, another limitation of handling metadata at album level instead of track level (where it is actually stored, in the individual files). So many bugs/annoyances linked to that design decision, years ago.
