[Feature Suggestion] Provide multiple filters for browsing media library

Let’s say that you want to show all Thrillers that were released in 2018. The only way that you can do it today badly is to filter by Genre = Thriller, then browse through all of the Thrillers to see which ones were released in 2018. That’s a pretty bad experience, and I would add this is basic functionality for a media player.

I want to be able to apply multiple filters. Assuming you’re using a SQL backend, this has got to be trivial to compose a query for it.

This is already possible in the web app, with ‘Custom Filter’.

I am unsure how to do that on a 10-foot UI though, where the only input mechanism is a remote control.

yup easy in plex web.

it would be really nice if you could simply search

‘2018 thriller’ or ‘year=2018, genre=thriller’

and get the same results

That doesn’t help me on Apple TV and the Plex app, as there is no web browser. The experience is really bad.

It’s possible to AirPlay from another device to AppleTV … but why would anyone even bother to use Plex on Apple TV if you had to resort to that kind of ridiculous integration?

you should be able to search on apple tv plex, but there just isn’t anyway to create custom filters/playlist like on the web ui.

On any clients as far as I can remember, so it’s not specific to apple tv.
