Feature Suggestion - Seamless External Movie Integration for Plex's “My Media” Section

The suggestion I’d like to put forth is to enhance the “My Media” section of the Plex app by adding the ability to seamlessly connect with Movies Anywhere or directly import movies purchased from platforms such as VUDU, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and others.

Option 1: Movies Anywhere Integration

By integrating Plex with Movies Anywhere, users could link their Movies Anywhere account with their Plex account. This integration would enable Plex to automatically pull in movies from Movies Anywhere and present them within the “My Media” section. This way, users can access their entire movie collection in one unified location, regardless of where they were originally purchased.

Option 2: Direct Import from External Platforms

Alternatively, Plex could offer a feature that allows users to manually input information about their purchased movies from various platforms. This information could include the title, release year, and source platform. Plex would then fetch relevant metadata and create a library entry within the “My Media” section. This feature would offer users the convenience of centralizing their content without the need for complex file transfers.

Both options would contribute significantly to Plex’s appeal as a comprehensive media hub. Users would no longer have to switch between different apps to access their purchased content, resulting in a more streamlined and user-friendly experience.
