I am running Plex server to record TV shows on a windows machine and play back on primarily a Nvidia Shield TV which doesn’t allow for direct play of mpegts containers (stupid that plex doesn’t even support their own recordings, I can play back the same files with any other app on the nvidia shield put plex without transcoding/remuxing on the fly). I have read that using ffmpeg to remux to mkv will fix this issue.
Here is a Plex support page showing how to use ffmpeg to remux an existing file but I would like to use it in the DVR setting and run a postprocessing script to do this.

The beta android tv app now supports the mpegts format.
From beta forum:
What’s changed?
Pretty much everything! The Plex player on TV and mobile is now capable of playing back a host of new containers such as AVI, MPEG, MPEGTS, and WMV. There is now support for software decoding of AAC LATM, AC3, MP1, MP2, FLAC, OPUS, WMA, MPEG, VC1, VP8/9, and WMV. It also brings a lot of performance improvements and fixes for existing setups and devices.
Cool, how do I get it and will it also let me passthrough DTS? DTS passthough is my last gripe. I wish they had expert setting like force passthough and force direct play for people that know exactly what their equipment can do.
