Video plays perfectly fine on phone and chromecast, so issue appears to lie with samsung app. Is there some sort of incompatibility I am missing?

Looks like the issue was too many subtitles. Apparently, Samsung TVs can only handle 30 tracks of video + audio + subtitles. Didn’t realize that. Removed subtitles, and problem is resolved. Feel free to close this thread.

Yeah, unfortunately that is a goofy limit imposed by Samsung that people have tried to get them to deal with and they refuse to. I don’t know why anyone would need to have 30+ subtitles but that is none of my business anyway.
