Files Added to "TV Shows" Will not show up.

I am new to Plex and so far so good. The one problem I have so far is trying to add files to the “TV Show” library. Here is what happens. I have deadwood ripped as MP4 files. I put them in a directory all their own called Deadwood. I created he Library “TV Shows” using the defaults settings on the wizard and selected the directory with the MP4 files. At the end of the process, it says, “no files to display”. If I do the same exact this, selecting “Movies” instead of TV Shows" in the wizard, all the files and metadata populate in Plex. What am I missing? Thank you!

Do you have it as “Deadwood > Season 01 > Deadwood - s01e01.mp4” ?

Public Enemy Number One is poor naming and structuring:

Pay particular attention to TV Show Naming and Structuring.

FileBot (link in my signature) can handle that for you automatically or manually in seconds.

(Now for Public Enemy #2)

What FileBot can’t do is remove possible embedded metadata in the Title Field of MP4/M4V files. Plex will read this info and prefer it over a perfect file name/structure, but you can combat that situation by moving Local Media Assets to the bottom of every agent list you can find. All tabs in TV Shows and Movies here:

Just drag LMA to the bottom of the list and drop it. If you do have embedded metadata this will cure the issue, if you don’t it won’t matter. LMA will do what it has to from the bottom.

I have them all in the same directory and they are named as follows

Deadwood season 1 episode 1

Deadwood season 1 episode 2

Deadwood season 1 episode 3

Etc.

Please read the responses you already have above.
