In my TV directory I have files that do not show up. To be clear they never appear in my plex app.
Some hypothetical examples:
\tv\star wars clone wars\Star Wars The Clone Wars Vol 2.mp4
\tv\spongebob\Spongebob s05e01-11.mp4
\tv\spongebob\Spongebob s05e01-12.mp4
\tv\MIRACULOUS\micraculous.mp4
\tv\princess collection\ miscellaneous MP4 in a folder like this
I am currently running Version 1.18.1.2019. I had to roll back to prior version becuase the current release does not work with my Samsung ultra hd player. I continually saw invalid format errors.
I have removed the directories out of the tv folder into a directory outside of plex, rebooted and move them back and rebooted again and still nothing.
Regardless of the naming convention the files should show up it simply wouldn’t match anything. I am not sure where to look at logs to understand why or what the issue is.
Nope. TV episodes must be named like TV episodes. Just as movies must be named like movies. That’s the only way Plex can match them. If you don’t care about matching and just want everything to appear, use an “Other video” library category instead. This doesn’t care about naming or matching so it will show everything.
Funny, when I first placed the files I accidentally put them in the Movies folder. I removed the rebooted and put them in the TV folder and they don’t appear. I assumed that there was some conflict since Plex had seen them once before.
