Fill the 'entity_picture' parameter with Album Art when casting music from Plex(amp)

Recently I got a new HiFi streamer with built-in Chromecast. When I use Plex or Plexamp to cast an album, it shows the Title, Artist and Album, but album art seems to be missing. What it looks like when casting Plex/Plexamp:

The missing piece seems to be called the ‘entity_picture’. When I create a cast stream myself in Home Assistant (Home automation tool) I can get album art shown on the screen:

My request: please include an Image/Entity_picture when casting music from Plex(amp)

Thanks in advance!

More details
In Home Assistant I can see that the following info about the stream (cast) when casting from Plex(amp):

When I create my own cast stream with parameters I can add an image which is displayed when casting. There’s an ‘Images’ parameter under cast metadata, see here for more info. My stream has these parameters:

When supplying an ‘Images’ parameter, the entity_picture is filled and shown on the player.

Hmm, must be something with your streamer then, I have Album Art on my Chromecasts via Plexamp.

A chromecast video stream is not the same as Entity picture metadata.

Alternative solution I found today: the Symfonium app.

It connects to Plex Media Server and sends album art metadata along when casting. Unlike Plex(amp) it also supports ‘casting’ to UPnP media players which makes gapless playback possible.

Please include Artwork in the data sent through Chromecast for music playback, so that streamers with a display, such as the Wiim Ultra, can display album artwork while playing a track.
This should be an easy win for Plex and Plexamp!

Thank you.

Is this still broken? Was considering a WIIM Ultra and want to use PlexAmp.

Indeed it is. How can something so easy to fix can be ignored for so many years, it would seem…
