I just tried to create a smart collection of my film-noir films, but Plex found only 1 film, “The Lady from Shanghai.” Obviously, I can re-tag all the films in my library and have Plex sort them, but that somewhat defeats the purpose of having a smart-collection function in Plex. Am I correct in assuming that someone at Plex assigns the initial tags to all of the films that I rip to my NAS? If so, how do you determine the correct tag(s) for a film? Thanks.
Thanks for the quick reply. In the future, I’ll create a regular collection for those films.
Here’s another question. Most films have a single director, but some films have co-directors or multiple directors. For example, Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen co-directed several musicals together, and Stanley Donen and George Abbott co-directed at least one musical together. Is there a way to create a smart collection of films directed solely by Stanley Donen without knowing every person with whom he co-directed a film? In other words, I can sort by Stanley Donen and “NOT Gene Kelly,” but I’ll still get the film Stanley Donen co-directed with George Abbott. An option of “NO ONE ELSE” would be convenient. Thanks.
I already figured that out. However, a smart collection is supposed to automatically include all new films meeting the specified criteria. If the smart collection is not fully automatic, it’s probably not all that much better than a manual collection. On the other hand, I can appreciate that writing the code for “and No One Else” might not be worth the trouble. Thanks.
