I love the new Smart Collections and have gone a bit overboard creating them. But there is one missing feature, I think.
Feature Request: Under Advanced Filters, we should be able to filter based on the file name. Examples: Superman II (2006) [DC].mkv → Into the “Director’s Cut” Smart Collection
Take This Job and Shove It! (1981) [Commentary].mkv → Into the “Great Commentaries” Smart Collection
The Hateful Eight (2015) [Extended].mkv → Into the “Extended Editions” Smart Collection
*12 Pound Balls (2017) [Crap].mkv → Into the “Stuff to Never Watch” Smart Collection
*The Ewok Adventure III (1989) [Star Wars].mkv → Into the “Star Wars” Smart Collection
Thanks for that tip. I was trying for a bit of automation, because when you have to rebuild a Plex library, you have to recreate any labels or tags/collections. If it could just read the actual file name (which shows up in “get info”), that that process would be much easier.
I would love to be able to restore from a backup, but sometimes the database becomes slow because of corruption. Doesn’t happen often, but when it does, one needs to start from scratch unfortunately, But luckily, Plex is great pulling in all the meta data, custom posters that are saved with the media files. The only real pain is re-creating the Collections and the hand full of changed meta data.
I am taking a look at the Plex Metadata-Manager, and Wow, this looks great. Thank you so much for letting me know about this. It will be my weekend research project. That’s why I love the Plex forums, people come up with some very creative solutions.
