Good day everyone,
I’ve been dealing with a huge pain in my side for a while now, and while I love that the feature exists, I would love to see some sort of modification that doesn’t have me clicking the down button (on Roku) multiple times to search for certain subtitles in the one or two languages I need.
What I’m referring to is the subtitle search feature that shows you every single language. It’s crazy inefficient.
I did a search in the forums for an existing issue and features prior to submitting this, but I had no luck. Sorry ahead of time.
Recreate (Windows - Chrome browser)
- Select a movie or TV show
- Go to Subtitle and click on the dropdown
- Click on Search
- Click on the language dropdown
- In Windows, it’s super easy to select the language you want in a few clicks but why are there soooo many languages here? Can this list be filtered to the agent’s Opensubtitle “Subtitle Language (1)” and Subtitle Language (2)? I don’t need any other languages.
Recreate (Roku player) - the real pain in my side begins.
- Select a movie or TV show
- Go to Subtitle and click on the dropdown
- Click on Search
- Click on the language dropdown
- Keep pressing the down button to go to the language you need. By default, I use English, but imagine how many times I need to click the down button to go to “Spanish”. I could have watched an entire episode by the time I’m able to select it, ok not really but you get the idea.
Also notice some languages don’t line up with the Windows version. For example, in Chrome I see Espanol, while Roku shows Spanish.
Question for devs:
Is there a file that I can manually edit to scope down this massive list of languages? If not, can we have this list based on the subtitle language 1, 2, 3 under the Opensubtitles agent setting? If the user hasn’t configured this, maybe show all languages at that point and then give the user an option to check or select defaults on the same page.
Thank you.
